When it comes to protecting the environment, we believe everyone should play a part. From seed to shelf, we work hard to find ways to produce products that are safe and effective, yet do not create unnecessary harm to the environment. In Chinese Medicine, we believe in balance, and it is with this belief that we operate our business and help protect the environment and natural resources for the generations to come.
Our first choice of raw material supplier is from the farmers who follow the Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). In this way, we promote and help to ensure sustainable farming practices for high quality and a wide variety of Chinese herbs.
After extraction, certain herb dregs and biomass leftovers are transformed into organic fertilizer and returned to the earth for further growing activities. This reduces the amount of potential waste and promotes the re-use of valuable resources.
In our effort to protect bio-diversity and the integrity of Chinese Herbal Medicine, we follow strict guidelines established by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) so as to not harm endangered animals nor protected herbal species. Evergreen ensures that animals/herbs on the CITES list, such as Tian Ma (Rhizoma Gastrodiae) and Xi Yang Shen (Radix Panacis Quinquefolii), have CITES permits indicating that they are obtained only from certified growers so we can protect the endangered animals and plants from extinction.
